The amount of selenium contents present in grains and grain-based foods depends on the soil content where the grains grew.

Selenium does not have any negative side effects if taken at normal doses. Should not take an overdose. The overdose can cause various reactions such as bad breath, fever, nausea, liver complications, kidney and heart problems.
